Who We Are The Wellness Initiative is an organisation that is driven to empower the community to create joy, wellbeing and meaning in life. We are a relatively new organisation that have been established since 2018 and are passionate about providing the best peer support services in the West Australian community. We have a team of passionate staff who all identify as having a journey with mental health recovery and work together to provide peer services to people who are ready for change and would like support to improve their wellbeing. The community is our office and we currently provide services in the Perth metropolitan area.
The Team and The Role The Peer Support Worker role is responsible for providing quality Peer Support to participants of The Wellness Initiative. Peer Support Workers support participants work on activities to improve and maintain their wellbeing; and walk alongside them as they practice new skills to achieve a meaningful life. This position works in collaboration with the other roles within the organisation, including the Founders, to achieve the best possible outcomes for each participant whilst also upholding the Values and Ethics of WRAP Facilitation.
This role will be based in the community and participants’ homes in the Perth metropolitan area. The Wellness Initiative provides support to participants all days of the week to suit the goals and needs of the participants – however, work hours are flexible to other commitments that you may have. This role will primarily be working alongside participants using their NDIS funds.
Duties for this role will include:
Work alongside a participant’s Peer Mentor team to help the participant maintain the goals they have achieved so far in their recovery journey.
Supporting participants to access the community for a wide variety of reasons! For example, attending any medical appointments or social groups, or to help them complete any other daily living tasks that will help in their mental health and recovery journey, as per the participant’s support plan.
Drawing on personal lived experience of a mental health and wellbeing journey to offer hope of recovery to others.
Attending regular supervision and team meetings.

Who We Are Looking For The Wellness Initiative is currently looking for people who are passionate about mental health recovery and ready to make change in people’s lives, as well as breaking down stigma in the wider community. We are looking to create a pool of Peer Support Workers in the effort to create more choice for our participants and to be able to match the best person to support them to maintain their goals and aspirations. The successful applicant will:
Display attitudes and behaviours in line with The Wellness Initiative’s Vision, Mission and Values.
Identify as a person with a lived experience of a mental health journey and recovery, and be willing to be open about this experience with others when relevant.
Demonstrate an understanding of mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) recovery.
Preferred, but not essential, to hold a relevant Certificate III qualification and/or relevant Peer Work experience to the position.
Be able to model positive behaviours, emotional maturity, coping skills and resilience.
Be proficient in using relevant data systems and administration tools.
Work flexibly alongside other staff to ensure quality supports for the participants.
Current drivers licence and working vehicle with comprehensive car insurance.
Access to working technology with capabilities to keep private.
NDIS Worker Screening check or willingness to obtain one
